There is a lot of pressure coming at us from all angles that we need to earn our food or burn off everything we eat in the gym, but our bodies are not designed that way. It’s a hard mindset to get out of, especially when it’s one that most of society is in. I would say that the best way to tackle this mindset is to take a step back from viewing exercise as a means to burn off what you are eating and rather find it as a place of mindful movement that you enjoy. Once you are able to re-establish your relationship with exercise to being something that allows you to be able to love how your body moves and feels it totally changes the way you view fueling your body for it! Start small, maybe a walk with a friend, playing with a pet, or just dancing in your room. Find something that makes you fall back in love with how movement makes you feel free rather than forced. Then once that experience is positive work your way up to something more.
